California is leading the nation in passing aggressive privacy legislation that gives consumers increased control of how their personal information is used online. These sweeping changes come with heavy-duty requirements that most businesses need help implementing.
A Proactive Approach to Privacy
When the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) became enforceable in July 2020, award-winning furniture and office supply company and Crain’s 2019 Best Workplace, Poppin knew they had a monumental task in getting their operations compliant with privacy regulations.
“Jodi was very quick to answer any and all of our questions and was extremely patient with us as we got up to speed on all of the details and implications of CCPA.”
Guiding Teams to Privacy Fluency
We provided foundational compliance services to Poppin to help them meet their compliance needs, from the beginning of the complicated and time-consuming process to the end. This included creating an initial data inventory, updating and simplifying privacy policies, setting up robust cookie banners, and training the entire team.
“Poppin is already a leader in employee engagement and activity. They were ready to extend that industry leadership to customer-centric, compliant privacy practices as well,” says Jodi Daniels, the founder of Red Clover Advisors.
The data inventory we completed helped everyone understand what kind of information they were collecting from their customers, why they were collecting it, what they were doing with it, and how long they kept it. This new understanding allowed us to reduce their risk by focusing their collection efforts on necessary data.
Adapting to Privacy Needs Now and in the Future
Their new data inventory also will make responding to individual rights requests from their customers much easier and more efficient. In addition, the updates we made to their privacy policy and cookie banners set Poppin up with an adaptable infrastructure that can respond to the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and beyond.
“I would recommend Red Clover Advisors without hesitation. Not only are the programs and offerings very flexible, but Jodi and team are great at answering questions and translating different aspects of the law in a way that anyone can understand.”
